The Vauxhall Grandland is well equipped and spacious enough for most families. However, it's hard to ignore the cheaper Skoda Karoq or more practical Kia Sportage – both of which have better interiors and are sharper to drive.

The Grandland comes with adaptive LED headlights, 19in alloy wheels, a 360-degree parking camera, a wireless phone-charger, a heated steering wheel and a powered tailgate.

This is the only petrol engine available for the Grandland, with 128bhp and 170lb ft of torque. That’s enough for a 0-60mph time of 10.4sec and a top speed of 122mph. There’s also an automatic gearbox available, which is 0.1sec quicker to 60mph.
