Used Toyota GR Yaris 2020-present reliability
Category: Hot hatch
The GR Yaris is one of the best hot hatches of the past few years and is now a sub-£30k used buy.
What should I look for in a used Toyota GR Yaris hatchback?
As with all cars, check for bodywork damage and kerbing on the wheels, and inspect the interior for signs of wear and tear. All new Toyotas come with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty, so you'll have whatever is left of this with a used example.
While Euro NCAP is yet to crash test the GR, other Toyotas that share a similar platform have received the maximum five stars. The GR Yaris comes with automatic emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, Lane Trace Assist (a system to keep you in the centre of your lane) and road sign recognition as standard. Blind-spot monitoring is available if you opt for a Convenience Pack car. An immobiliser and alarm are both standard from new.
What are the most common problems with a used Toyota GR Yaris hatchback?
As of writing, the GR Yaris has just one recall to its name. It relates to the radar sensor and states that the initialization of it may have not been completed correctly. Your local Toyota dealer should be able to resolve this issue (at no cost to you) if your car is involved in the recall.
Is a used Toyota GR Yaris hatchback reliable?
The GR Yaris, as well as the current, regular Yaris, was absent from our latest What Car? Reliability Survey. However, Toyota as a brand came second out of 32 manufacturers featured and this inspires confidence when looking to the GR Yaris.
