What should I look for in a used Peugeot 3008 estate?
Even though there are some really nice materials in the 3008, you should still check that there are no rips, tears or stains in the fabric that covers the seats and doors.
In addition, make sure that all the storage areas still have lids on them, if they were there originally. That shouldn't be an issue, though, because the interior seems pretty well screwed together.
The boot is large and capable of swallowing plenty of suitcases. Sensibly, the top of the rear bumper has been left unpainted, so it should handle bags striking it well.
What are the most common problems with a used Peugeot 3008 estate?
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
Some examples produced between 28 January 2018 and 7 May 2018 can suffer with diesel particulate filter (DPF) damage from a plastic component in the exhaust system. Check with your dealer to find out if your car is affected, because it may need a replacement part if it is.
Tow bar fixing
The fixings for the tow bar might not have been tightened to the correct settings at the factory on 3008s made between 15 June 2017 and 15 January 2018. A Peugeot dealer will be able to let you know if your car is affected and check the tow bar for you.
Oil plug
Oil may leak from some cars built between 27 April 2018 and 30 May 2018 because a sealing plug wasn't tightened correctly. You can find out if your car is affected by speaking with a local dealer.
Engine
Some early 3008s manufactured between 1 October 2017 and 30 November 2017 could suffer with engine failure in extreme circumstances, due to internal components that don't meet factory specifications breaking. Speak with a dealer for further information, because the engine might need to be replaced.
AdBlue
The AdBlue urea injection system of some models made between 1 October 2019 and 17 March 2020 could block up. Affected examples will need to have a software update to prevent this from happening.
Rear suspension
Some bolts fitted to the rear suspension of 3008 manufactured between 12 October 2019 and 15 January 2020 could break. Find out from a Peugeot dealer if your car is affected by this because replacement bolts will need to be fitted to prevent further issues.
Hybrid battery
A very small number of plug-in hybrid models manufactured between 1 October and 23 December 2019 will need to be replaced due to a problem with the cells inside the battery pack. Speak to your Peugeot dealer for further information.
Emissions software
A software update will need to be carried out on some 3008s made between 1 February 2017 and 12 April 2019 to make sure that the emissions levels are kept within legal boundaries. Find out by speaking with your Peugeot dealer to find out if your car is affected by this.
Is a used Peugeot 3008 estate reliable?
The 3008 finished in 28th place out of 34 cars in the family SUV category in our most recent What Car? Reliability survey with an overall score of 86.1%. This put it above the Nissan Qashqai diesel, the Range Rover Evoque and the Skoda Karoq diesel but below the BMW X1, the Hyundai Tucson and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
Peugeot as a brand didn't do well, either, finishing 21st out of 32 brands albeit with a good overall score of 90.5%. This put the firm above Audi, Mercedes and Volkswagen but below BMW, Honda and Kia.
