New Toyota Yaris Cross vs used Hyundai Tucson: practicality
The Toyota Yaris Cross is one of the cheapest hybrid SUVs you can buy new, but would you be better off with a one-year-old Hyundai Tucson for the same money?...
Space and practicality
Front space, rear space, seating flexibility, boot
Front and rear, the Hyundai Tucson (perhaps unsurprisingly, being a class size up) has more passenger space – six-footers have plenty of room to stretch our. So, really it becomes a question of whether you'll struggle for space inside the Toyota Yaris Cross.
It might not be as capacious as the Tucson, but you're still unlikely to feel cramped in the back unless you're taller than six feet.
On the other hand, small rear door openings make it harder to get a child seat into the back of the Yaris Cross, and if that seat has a stabalising leg, your front passenger might have to sit closer to the dashboard than they ideally would.
Both cars have handy 40/20/40 split folding rear seatbacks. Again, the Tucson is roomier, though; it has a far bigger boot than the Yaris Cross, both with the rear seats up and folded down.
