Used test: Honda CR-V vs Kia Sorento vs Land Rover Discovery Sport verdict
Buy any of these hybrid SUVs at three years old and you can save yourself a tidy sum on the cost of a new one. But which should you choose?...
Our verdict
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is pretty practical, but this P200 version falls short of its superior diesel counterparts. Performance is sluggish and fuel economy is woeful. Pair that with a poorly resolved ride – in our test car's R-Dynamic S trim – and it places third.
It's a closer call between second and first. The Honda CR-V is incredibly economical, not to mention it'll cost you the least to buy. It lacks the third row of seats that its rivals bring to the table, though, and its infotainment system is far from slick.
It'll cost you some extra cash over the CR-V, but we believe the Kia Sorento is a worthy upgrade. Its petrol engine, electric motor and gearbox work together smoothly to deliver punchy performance, while its interior is nicely made and ridiculously spacious. Kia's reliability record is very confidence inspiring, too.
