8 September 2022 – Out of sight

The two charging cables that came with my Kia EV6 rarely get used, because the battery is usually replenished via my home wallbox or a public rapid charger, both of which have their own tethered cables. That said, I’d never go anywhere without those cables aboard – you never know when they might be needed – but I don’t want them cluttering up the boot.

Kia EV6 LT underfloor storage

One possible storage area for them is under the boot floor, but when they’re in their carry bags, the cables don’t fit into this very shallow space. They do go in, just, if I discard the bags, but a much neater option is to stash them in the ‘frunk’ under the bonnet – a space big enough to swallow both bags comfortably. If I used the cables more regularly, popping the bonnet would probably be less convenient than lifting the boot floor to access them, but as things stand, hiding them away up front is an ideal solution.
