This class embraces nimble city cars and family hatchbacks, as long as they are no more than 4.5 metres long...
Fiat 500 Electric 42kWh Icon
City driving is what electric cars were originally made for; with no exhausts spewing nasties as they glide near- silently along, they are literally a breath of fresh air for our urban centres. And no car suits metropolitan streets better than the Fiat 500 Electric.
Its small size is a big virtue when you’re in town; the electric car makes easy work of narrow streets, and it means you can use parking spaces that the MG 4 would be hard pressed to fit into. And despite its diminutive dimensions, the 500’s driving position is higher than that of the Peugeot e-208, so you get a good view out and you don’t feel vulnerable in heavy traffic.
With the bigger battery of our preferred 42kWh version, a single charge is officially good for 199 miles, and that might well suffice for a week’s worth of urban trips. The 500 is pricier than the MG 4, but it looks and feels classier inside, and some will think its retro style is priceless.
