2018 Honda Civic Saloon 1.6 i-DTEC - verdict

If you want your Honda Civic with a bit more junk in its trunk, the saloon will cost a reasonable £500 more than the hatchback. But while the extra boot space looks good on paper, you do lose a fair bit of practicality thanks to that slimmer boot opening.

That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t recommend the saloon over the hatch, though. The suspension tweaks make it noticeably more comfortable over a wide variety of surfaces while remaining agile in corners. If you’re planning on racking up big mileages, it becomes very tempting indeed. Just be wary of visiting Ikea without the back-up of your mate with a van.
