2016 Ford Fiesta ST200 - performance details and pricing revealed
The Ford Fiesta ST200 is a more powerful version of our favourite hot hatch...
What is it?
The Ford Fiesta ST200 is a more powerful version of the Fiesta ST hot hatch that will act as the current generation Fiesta’s swansong.
What engines can I choose from?
There’s just one engine to choose from in the ST200, it’s the same 1.6-litre petrol engine as the standard ST, but Ford has tuned it to boost power from 180bhp to 197bhp.
Power can also be increased to 212bhp for 15sec bursts by using the ST200’s overboost feature. Like the Fiesta ST, the ST200 comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Fiesta ST200’s 0-62mph time is 6.7sec and the top speed is 143mph. Those are improvements over the standard car of 0.2sec and 4mph respectively.
Official fuel economy is 46.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 140g/km. Those compare with the standard car’s figures of 47.9mpg and 138g/km.
What equipment does it come with?
The ST200 gets an exclusive grey paint finish called Storm Grey. It also comes with 17in matt black alloys, silver interior details and red brake calipers.
Standard specification includes a voice-activated infotainment system and part-leather front sports seats.
How much does it cost?
The Fiesta ST200 is available to order now and will arrive in the UK later this summer. The ST200 starts at £22,745, which is £5000 more than the standard ST.
How good are its rivals?
The standard Ford Fiesta ST is the one to beat. It’s great fun, great value and the best hot hatch on the market.
Other rivals are the Suzuki Swift Sport and VW Polo GTI, neither of which can compete in terms of performance, although they are considerably cheaper to buy. The Swift Sport is a particular bargain with a starting price of just £13,999.
