2015 Infiniti Q30 unveiled at Frankfurt motor show

The all-new Infiniti Q30 hatchback will take on the likes of the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class when it appears in UK showrooms in January 2016. It has been revealed in final production form at the Frankfurt motor show.

What is it?

The Q30 is designed to cash in on the growing demand for small, premium cars in Europe. It will be built at Nissan's Sunderland plant, and is the first Infiniti model to be built in Europe. A crossover version, dubbed the QX30, is also in development.

What engines can I choose from?

Engines include a 1.6-litre petrol powerplant developing either 120bhp or 154bhp, while the diesel range consists of a 1.5-litre unit with 107bhp or a 2.2-litre unit with 168bhp.

Top-end versions of the Q30 also get the option of a 2.0-litre petrol with 208bhp.

How much equipment does it come with?

Three trim levels will be offered on the Q30 – SE, Sport and Premium. Sport models get 19-inch alloy wheels, a stiffer and lower suspension set-up than the standard car, and a bespoke front bumper design. Premium cars, meanwhile, receive LED front foglights, chrome exhaust outlets and 18-inch alloys.

How much will it cost?

Infiniti is due to release official pricing information closer to the car's launch in January 2016.

How good are its rivals?

Rivals for the Q30 include the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The A3 receives a full five-star rating on What Car? while the 1 Series has four stars and the A-Class has two stars.
