Matt Saunders has spent the last 20 years working at What Car?'s sister title, Autocar, working his way from a work experience placement through to road test editor, via a stint with Stuff magazine. In his current role, Matt is Autocar's chief car reviewer and manager of the title's road test team, meaning he's responsible for the creation, accuracy and smooth running of all road tests, group tests and drive stories.
Matt has been a long-time contributor to What Car?, and has tested cars as diverse as the Bugatti Veyron and Renault Twizy. Yet he prides himself on his ability to understand a car from the position of those most likely to buy it. That means Matt is as adept at comparing cars on the race track as he is taking objective measurements to gauge rear legroom or crunching numbers to discover how much a car really costs.
